Weekend in Munich: First time at Oktoberfest

(Inside Schottenhamel tent at Munich's Oktoberfest)
After the trip to Mainz, I found myself on a four-hour train ride to Munich in Germany's southern state of Bavaria. Our group had a free weekend to explore, so I went to visit my reporter friend Martin Richter and experience the biggest beer festival in the world dating back to early 1800s. Yes, you guessed it!

Oktoberfest (or how the locals call is Wiesn).

Before the trip, of course I was prepared with my dirndl (traditional dress) that you see to the left. Everyone asked where I bought it, so I'll tell you... Amazon! I even saw another girl wearing the same one, but I didn't stop to take a picture haha

Once I got to Munich, I bought a flower crown, choker necklace (with Edelweiss mountain flower pendant) and heart-shaped purse to match the outfit.

Every corner you turned, you saw an array of colorful dirndls, lederhosen, carnival rides, roast chicken, Brรคtwurst and of course, steins full of German beer!

To give you a taste of what it was like inside from literally the start of the festival when the mayor taps the beer barrel, I made a short video to show you. Enjoy!
